In the first three sessions participants learn and practice tools and techniques needed to execute effective project planning, organizing, staffing, scheduling and controlling, while delivering quality work products in a Healthcare environment, with industry specifics. Best practices for negotiation, communication, managing risk, change management, and coordination among stakeholders are covered in great detail. Including CMS templates is a recommended option.
Since most projects span multiple departments, groups, companies and healthcare regulations, this module helps participants develop realistic project requirements. Participants will learn how to identify stakeholders and elicit their needs, deliverables, and priorities. They will also create deliverables that define the scope of the project so that work won’t need to be redone with expensive changes and corrections. By doing this, the production of quality products, on time, within budget and without surprises, can become a reality. Including CMS templates is recommended option.
During the first half of this module, participants learn and practice strategies, tools and tactics needed to ensure successful communications with all stakeholders. If you have ever been surprised during a project, you understand the importance of this module and our mantra, ‘No surprises’. The second half of this module addresses risk. Since all projects contain risk, especially in Healthcare, a major responsibility of the project manager and the team members is to lower and manage it. A logical six-step risk process is presented and practiced in the second half of this module. A striking reality is that most projects and organizations currently operate with known risks and no contingencies. In any Healthcare environment, this obviously needs to be corrected.
If your organization uses Microsoft Project, or wants to use Microsoft Project software, these two days can be included in the program. In Day one, participants learn how to use the tool to create project plans, including tasks, dependencies, estimates, milestones, staff assignments (full and part-time), deadlines and more. In the Advanced Topics session, once questions about participants’ real work projects are answered and shared, techniques to manage multiple projects, share resources across projects and regular duties, balance staff schedules, and more, are presented and practiced.
Besides the US government, many organizations, especially those that are highly regulated, are requiring project managers to obtain their PMI PMP, Project Management Professional credential. For the organization, providing a path to the PMP credential is a way of helping to ensure team members in the project management role, possess the desired capabilities. For the individual, reaching the level of PMP validates your skill set and tells the world you are serious about the Project Manager role. The CAPM certification, Certified Associate in Project Management, is designed for individuals who have not yet attained enough real world project management experience to the level of a PMP, but still want to demonstrate their familiarity and understanding of standardized, formal and successful project management best practices and processes. This course prepares participants to confidently sit for, and successfully take either the PMP or CAPM Certification exam.
